THE VOICES of Raagam Sisters are sweet and expressive blending well with remarkable clarity of sangathis, both slow and fast. Sivaranjani and Nalinakanthi, voices are also different from each other. Sivaranjani has a soft and malleable voice while Nalinakanthi has a sharp one with a nasal tone to it.
Ranjani and Gayatri began their music career as violin duet artistes even before they reached their teens. Through their intense training, command over the violin and fine artistry, they quickly established themselves as top-class violinists of international repute.
R. Vedavalli was born in Mannargudi, Tamil Nadu, and India to Shri Ramaswami Iyengar and Padmasani Ammal in 1935. Her talent for music was identified early on by Sangita Kalanidhi Madurai Srirangam Iyengar, who brought the five year old a harmonium, and got her started on vocal lessons.
