Shashank Subramanyam is a Carnatic classical flautist of India. Shashank, born on October 14, 1978, was barely nine months old when he was initiated to south Indian classical music, even before he started speaking his mother tongue.
Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, the legendary Bharatnatyam dancer is a rare combination of a dancer, research scholar, choreographer, music composer & musician, teacher, author and indologist. She is now the director of ‘Nrithyodaya’- the dance school founded in 1942 by her father, in Chennai.
She hails from the very famous Lalgudi family. She is the daughter and disciple of Lalgudi Brahmanandam and niece of Lalgudi Shri. G. Jayaraman. She began her training at age five and had her maiden performance at the age of ten.
Smt Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala an acclaimed Bharathanatyam dancer for 3 decades, choreographer, teacher, and organizer, hails from a family of conniesseurs of fine arts. Parvathi is one of the senior most disciples of eminent guru Kalaimamani Smt.Krishnakumari Narendran and veteran Padmabhushan Kalanidhi Narayanan.
Revathy Krishna is the great granddaughter of Shri Thillaisthanam Rama Iyengar, the devoted sishya of the great saint Thyagaraja. “Dr. T. Srinivasa Ragavan a noted musician and music critic of yesteryears is my grandfather” she proudly says.
Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam is an eminent Carnatic music vocalist. Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam started her training in Carnatic Music at the age of five under K. Padmanabhan, a disciple of Harikesanallur Muthiah Bhagavathar from the Swati Tirunal Academy, Trivandrum.
Prema Rangarajan has just completed recording Adi Sankara’s ‘Chatussashti Upachara Puja’ for the Narayani (golden) temple at Sripuram. The opportunity had come to Carnatic musician Prema Rangarajan because of her skill in singing Sanskrit devotional verses, of which she had already done 14 recordings
Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi is the daughter and disciple of the great maestro Padma Bhushan Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman. The fifth generation in the Lalgudi dynasty, Vijayalakshmi grew up in an atmosphere of reverberating rich music early signs of her musical inclination was apparent.
Pooja has been learning Bharathanatyam from the age of 6. Primarily she was tutored by Smt. Vidya Bhavani Suresh and has been with Neeraja Krishna’s Thaandavam for the past 7 years. Pooja has been a lead dancer in the various thematic presentations of Thaandavam where she is also an assistant teacher.
