Hailing from a legendary family of musicians attached to the Royalty of former Cochin State, G. Ramanathan is the 5th generation musician. Ramanathan had his early training in Vocal, Violin, Mridangam and Ganjira from his father, the living legend of Indian music Prof. T.V.Gopalakrishnan, popularly known as TVG.

An Artiste with a Natural flair, for all instruments, Ramanathan started his journey as a Performing Musician by learning the nuances of the “Inimitable Sax” from the Saxophone Samrat, Kadri Gopalnath. Ramanathan graduated in Indian music from the prestigious Madras University and in Western music from the Trinity college of Music, London.

Ramanathan’s early music career began with the music wizard Ilaiyaraja, with whom he worked for over 20 years as also other popular music directors in the film world. Ramanathan has been performing all over India and abroad – Europe, Australia and Middle East. All his concerts have had rave reviews.
