சென்னை: ‘லஷ்மண் ஸ்ருதி’யின், ‘சென்னையில் திருவையாறு’ இசை நிகழ்ச்சி, இன்று (18-12-2019) துவங்கி, 25ம் (25-12-2019) தேதி வரை நடக்கிறது.

சென்னையில் நடக்கும் மார்கழி இசை விழாக்களில் தனித்துவம் பெற்றது, ‘லஷ்மண் ஸ்ருதி’யின், ‘சென்னையில் திருவையாறு’ நிகழ்ச்சி. இதில், பிரபல பரத நாட்டிய கலைஞர்கள், கர்நாடக இசை கலைஞர்கள் என, 60 பேர் பங்கேற்று, கலை ரசிகர்களுக்கு விருந்தளிக்க உள்ளனர். நிகழ்ச்சியின் ஒரு பகுதியாக, சென்னை, காமராஜர் அரங்கில், நாளை காலை, 9:45 மணிக்கு, ‘கிருஷ்ண லீலா’ என்ற தலைப்பில், திருச்சி, என்.ஆர்.ஐ.ஏ.எஸ்., அகாடமி வழங்கும், பார்வையற்ற மாற்றுத்திறனாளியான கர்நாடக வாய்ப்பாட்டு கலைஞர் காரைக்கால் ஜெய்சங்கரின், இசை நிகழ்ச்சி நடக்கிறது. இவர், ‘கலாஷேத்திரா’வின் ருக்மணிதேவி இசைக் கல்லுாரியில், வாய்ப்பாட்டு, இசை குறித்த ஆசிரியராக பணியாற்றி வருகிறார். கலைமாமணி வைரமங்கலம் லட்சுமி நாராயணன் மற்றும் திருவெண்காடு ஜெயராமன் ஆகியோரின் சீடரும் ஆவார்.

அமெரிக்கா மற்றும் இந்தியாவில் நடந்த பல்வேறு இசை நிகழ்ச்சிகளில், நடுவராக இருந்துள்ளார். வட அமெரிக்கா, புளோரிடா, நியூஜெர்சி, வாஷிங்டன் உட்பட பல நாடுகளில், இசை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடத்தியுள்ளார்.தமிழக அரசின் வாய்ப்பாட்டு இசையில், முதல் வகுப்பில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்றுள்ளார். சென்னை பல்கலையில், இந்திய இசை பாடப்பிரிவில், முதுநிலை பட்டம் பெற்றுள்ளார்.யுவகலாநிதி, கலைகோமாமணி உட்பட, பல விருதுகளை, 36 வயதான காரைக்கால் ஜெய்சங்கர் பெற்றுள்ளார். 2002ல் ஹரியானாவில் நடந்த இசை நிகழ்ச்சியில், வாய்ப்பாட்டில் தங்கம் வென்றுள்ளார்.

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday said that the State government will consider the request for recognising light music as an organised industry.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 14th edition of Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru Music Festival organised by Lakshman Sruthi at Kamarajar Arangam here, he said that the Margazhi music festival was unique to Chennai and added that like migratory birds flocking to Vedanthangal, music lovers and musicians flocked to the city every year.

He recalled how former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa loved all kinds of music and was an accomplished Bharathanatyam dancer.

He also presented the Isai Alwar Award to thavil vidwan A.K. Palanivel. Veteran actor Sarojadevi unveiled a wax statue of music director M.S. Viswanathan.

‘Hold fests in districts’

V. Lakshman of Lakshman Sruthi urged Mr. Palaniswami to ensure that classical music and dance programmes are conducted in all the districts. He also requested that light music be recognised as an industry so that the over one lakh persons involved in the profession would benefit. Ishari K. Ganesh, Chancellor, Vels University, Devanathan Yadav of the India Makkal Kalvi Munnetra Kazhagam, Pothy’s managing director Ramesh, industrialist Nalli Kuppuswamy Chetti and Adyar Ananda Bhavan’s K.T. Srinivasaraja were among those present. The festival will be on till December 25.

Inaugurating the 14th edition of Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru, the annual music festival organised by Lakshman Sruthi Musicals, here, the Chief Minister paid rich tributes to the Carnatic musicians and said the State government would consider the organisers’ plea to recognise light music as organised industry.

He also recalled the efforts of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in establishing the Tamilnadu Music and Fine Arts University.

In memory of veteran music composer M S Viswanathan, a wax statue of the legend was unveiled by vetern actress Saroja Devi on the occasion.

Lakshman Sruthi Musicals had conceptualised the festival in 2005 and they have been organising the event for the benefit of rasikas at Kamarajar Arangam every year during Margazhi. The 14th edition will be on till 25 December.

Meanwhile, V Lakshman of Lakshman Sruthi urged the Chief Minister to ensure that classical music and dance programmes are conducted in all the districts.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will be inaugurating the festival 18 December and thavil maestro A K Palanivel will receive the ‘Isaiyazhwar’ award from the Chief Minister.

While December in other countries stand for the season of winter, for us Chennaiites it is synonymous with Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, drama and discourses.

This season, eight sessions comprising Carnatic music, instrumental, dance performance, Harikatha and discourses will be conducted at Kamarajar Arangam for Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaru.

Addressing a press conference this morning, classical singer Nithyashree Mahadevan said, “In the digital world that we are living in now, listening to music is just a click away any time, anywhere. In such a time, making them attend a live kutcheri has become quite a task, but Lakshman Sruthi troupe has been consistent in organising the festival that garners several thousands of audience. The enthusiasm that we get from the spectators in a live event gives so much joy to artistes that cannot be experienced elsewhere.”

“During the initial two seasons of the music festival, only 20,000 people attended. But as years passed, several people began admiring our Carnatic art forms and now we witness up to one lakh audience every year,” said Lakshman, one of the organisers.

The current edition also features renowned north Indian artists Kaushiki Chakraborti and Rashid Khan. For the first time, to honour classical artistes, the festival also witnesses ‘Classical Star Award Ceremony’.

In addition, in memory of popular music director M S Viswanathan, a wax statue will be unveiled by actress Saroja Devi.

Musicians Unni Krishnan, Rajesh Vaidya, Shobha Chandrasekar, Deepika, Saindhavi, Accord Metropolitan finance director Thiyagarajan, Zee TV executive vice-president and cluster head – south, Siju Prabhakaran, were were present during the media conference.
